Romanescu, romanesco broccoli or romanesco cauliflower known by many different names but there is no mistaking this spikey looking vegetable, easily recognisable by its fractal form. From the same family as broccoli and cauliflower romanescu is the lesser known relative but is also as packed full of vitamins C and K. As you can tell from its name romanescu was first discovered in Italy but we import it from Spain and France. When cooking romanescu is best cooked in the same way as a cauliflower but with a taste more similar to broccoli with its own unique texture. Romanescu may not be the most commonly consumed vegetable but once you have tried this symmetrical masterpiece it will soon become a family favourite.
