Pears originated in China. You can get two main different types of pears, Asian and European. Asian pears are often called apple pears as they are round and look more like an apple and have a very different taste and texture. We like European pears and get ours from France, Spain and Italy which have the classic pear shape. We most commonly import packhams and williams pears. The skin of pears contains at least 3 times more nutrients than the flesh.
